It has been announced that the NHK General program “Meikyo Shisui: The Divine Techniques of Martial Arts” will be returning with a new series starting January 2026.

In this new season, the program will finally take an in-depth look at professional sumo. It will also explore whether the extraordinary martial arts techniques often depicted in manga and anime could actually exist in real life. Additionally, top athletes from winter sports—highlighted ahead of the Milan–Cortina Olympics—will join the program as their elite skills in jumping and rotation are analyzed through the lens of martial arts.
This rich, seven-episode series will offer a wide range of perspectives and discoveries.
